Looking for a ride?
Every Thursday during the summer is “Race Night” ~ Meet @ Bike Newport at 6pm. Riders need to be on a road bike and be prepared to maintain speeds of 23+ mph. Team Bike Newport/Bier One members help to lead this ride and their purpose is to train in a group and also teach people how to safely ride at a fast pace in a group. Ride goes to Toledo and back and sometimes further. Get your spandex on and join this group of fast paced riders…if you dare!
Every Monday is "Mellow Monday" Road Rides ~ Meet @ Bike Newport 6 pm and ride by the light house and down the Bay front and out the Bay Road to Toledo Hill and back. 15 mph pace and a no drop ride. Road bikes recommended and helmets required.
Every Tuesday night is Mountain Bike Night ~ We post where we will be going on our Facebook page (Bike Newport) or give a call to shop in the early afternoon (541) 265-9917. A base level of fitness is recommended but beginners are welcome and we may split into a couple of groups so that no one is left behind. Bring your mountain bike, helmet, water, and maybe a snack.

Bike Newport named 2011 winner of the Austin Family Business ~ Excellence in Family Business Awards.
Bike Newport is the first bike shop to ever receive this prestigious award and beat out 14 other businesses from Oregon & Washington as this years winner in the "micro" family business category.
Bike Newport was recognized for their bike advocacy efforts, strong community involvement, and by being a successful model of a small family run business.
We are so thrilled to win this award! Being a small business owner is a difficult task but we are fortunate to have a wonderful business that we are able to raise our son in and work as a family.
This national bicycle travel award is a huge honor for a bike shop as it represents a nomination and votes from touring cyclists from around the world. "We couldn't be more happy or proud of this award, we were told we had more votes than they have ever had from a bike shop and we are also the first winners from the West Coast." said Daniella.

support pro-bike policies
I just learned about a great new website to support pro-bike policies and spread the joy of bikes! Check out peopleforbikes.org! They're collecting one million names in support of a better world for biking -- one that's safer, more convenient, and more appealing for everyone.
Every day, millions of Americans like us ride for their health, for the environment, for their communities, and for the pure joy of bicycling. But until now, only a tiny fraction of riders have stood up to help improve bicycling in America.
Peopleforbikes.org is going to change all that. They're building a national movement with the clout and influence to get things done. That means promoting bike-riding on an individual level, but also sending a unified message to our elected leaders, the media, and the public that bicycling should have their full support.
Check out our new TV commercial set to air on Comcast Cable channels, including Discovery, Comedy Central, TBS, and ABC Family.
Also watch additional footage of the making of Bike Newport's commercial and out takes.
